Another week into May means another busy week on the farm(s). Last weekend The Table played host to two separate volunteer groups and we accomplished five projects with their help! Three friends from Mayfair Christian Reformed Church in Grand Rapids, MI, spent three days working with us. On the first day, we installed drip irrigation and finished planting one of our gardens. On the second day, things got a bit more technical. We had put out the word on social media looking for reclaimed lumber to build a raised bed garden. Armed with a skill saw, a power drill, and a patch of land, these guys transformed said patch of land into a garden oasis made up almost entirely of upcycled lumber. By the time we arrived to their third day in Denver, these guys were professionals. We took them to West Wash Park where we had previously built three raised beds with the intent to build three more. By noon we had built, set, and filled the boxes (with the great help of a 3-year-old) and our mission was complete.

Meanwhile, a group of volunteers from Family in Christ Community Church in Westminster, CO, spent the morning planting at two different gardens in our network of neighborhood gardens. This group of volunteers made quick work of getting plants and seeds in the ground. It was the fourth consecutive year we’ve had a group of volunteers from FIC and it’s been a great blessing to us and our community.

Thanks to all of you for your time, energy, creativity, and sweat equity. You continue to enable us to extend grace into our community by providing nourishment for all. #SowItForward
