Veggie Bike is making its next venture into the neighborhood this afternoon (weather permitting). Along with the arugula, lettuce, and kale we will have some beautiful and abundant Napa cabbage. You may say: “I know what to do with lettuce. I love salad. I know what to do with kale. I love smoothies. I’m on the fence with arugula. It’s a little peppery. But Napa cabbage? What do I do with that?” We’re glad you asked. And what do you mean you’re on the fence with arugula? Shame on you. But that’s another post. For now, allow us to offer you two suggestions on how to use your Napa cabbage.

The first is a recipe we made last year and will make again this year. And next year. And probably for years after that. It’s a recipe for Fish Tacos with Creamy Lime Guacamole and Cabbage Slaw. It only requires one small head of Napa cabbage but why not invite some friends over, get two heads of cabbage, and make a double recipe. That would be true #SowItForward fashion.

The second recipe we’d like to share with you is one that a friend just made last week. If you’re looking to feature an entire salad of Napa cabbage, then this is the one for you…because cabbage can be so much more than slaw. Anyway, check out this link to try a Napa Cabbage Salad.

Remember, all the veggies you get from the Veggie Bike are unwashed. So the first step in making any recipe is to wash your veggies. They taste much better when they’re clean.

Bon appetit!
